Mashhad university to host Ferdowsi International Congress

TEHRAN -- The seventh Ferdowsi International Congress opens today at Ferdowsi University in Mashhad.
Experts on Ferdowsi’s masterpiece, the Shahnameh, from Tajikistan and several other countries have been inveited to the congress, which will run until May 14 that is celebrated annually as National Ferdowsi Day in Iran.
Several programs are arranged to be held during the three-day congress, Public Relations Office of the Ferdowsi Foundation reported on Friday.
The participants will be visiting the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (AS) this morning and the congress will be officially opening in the afternoon.
Tajik expert Shahmansour Shahmirza Khajaev, as well as Iranian scholars including Mir-Jalaleddin Kazzazi, Jalal Khaleqi-Motlaq, Hassan Anusheh, and Shahin Seraj is expected to make speeches during the first day.
The guests will be visiting Ferdowsi’s birthplace Paj, near Tus in Khorasan Razavi Province, and his mausoleum in Tus during the next two days.
They will also visit the mausoleums of Khayyam and Attar in Neyshabur.
